Books for Baby’s Birthday

Just recently, I had the pleasure of helping Baby “L” celebrate her 1st birthday. Book themed birthdays and baby showers are all the rage right now, as well they should be! Instilling a love of books early on is wonderful and of course books make great gifts and are an awesome way for your guests to share something special with your little one. As you have probably guessed, I would be more than happy to come to your little one’s special day and share some songs and books with your friends and family. Feel free to request a quote or schedule a party with StoryTime Theatre.

Back to the review… I had the honor of sharing two great stories that are just perfect for a baby’s birthday.

The first book we read is one of Karen Katz’s Lift-the-Flap books, Where is Baby’s Birthday Cake?. Readers help Baby search through the house, uncovering presents, hats, and party guests, but can they find Baby’s birthday cake? This book is very interactive and is great for one on one or group readings. Of course, it is also perfectly themed for a birthday celebration.

Next we read The Birthday Box by Leslie Patricelli. In this story, the birthday child unwraps a box and imagining ensues as we discover all of the great things that a simple box can become. The illustrations are high contrast and geared to any gender. Readers can act out each scene along with the characters, becoming pilots, pirates, robots and more. Parents will enjoy this read too, chuckling over the truth to be found in the statement, “They’re going to have more fun playing with the box!”
